write up a daily menu of meals for the whole week including snacks and the ingredients needed for each meal. This helps if you tend to buy spontaneous items when shopping

You can also check out these 2 websites as they will have even more and better suggestions for you. Daveramsey.com and clarkhoward.com.

Before jumping in and buying, renting, obligating check with at least 3 other places to see if you can get it cheaper or more services etc. For the grandparents always express that they are seniors and would like the Senior discount. Now for them ask for everything from Utilities to Real Estate Taxes to Eating out and so forth. Same goes with there medical expenses make a case with the person you talk to that there on fixed income and don’t have much money many times you could get 20-40% off there bills. Turn the a/c up a few degrees and the heat down a few degrees in the wintertime. combine trips out for supplies groceries and such.

Keep studying and someday you won’t have to skimp by but you’ll enjoy the game of getting a better deal than the others that don’t try for a better deal and have much more than the rest.

Cook all your own food from fresh, don’t buy ready-cooked meals. There’s more goodness in lentil and carrot soup than in a packet of fast food. Sardines are cheap and healthy. Stores sell off yesterdays bread and veg at reduced prices as soon as they open in the morning.
Save on water heating by boiling kettles instead of using immersion heaters and wash with a facecloth instead of showering, at least every second day.
Switch off all lights and electrical appliances as soon as you’ve finished using them. Wear more clothes and cut down on heating. Fill the electric kettle with only enough water for your needs. Grow your own veg. Haunt charity shops and car boot sales for necessities like clothes and household goods: buy nothing new. Cut out booze and confectionary, cakes, and fancy biscuits. Change into old clothes when you come in from work. Use the washing machine only when you have a full load and set it at 30-40 degrees. Hang up your clothes to dry instead of using the dryer (which is V exoensive.) Don’t buy books, get them from the library. Learn to enjoy free hobby’s like walking. Shop in cut price stores like Lidl.
